"Europe celebrates its 60-year saga"

The project “Saga of Young Europeans in 2010”, organized by the House of Europe of Scy-Chazelles (Robert Schuman European Centre), was born from a desire to pass on the memory of the European construction to young Europeans.

From 8 April to 5 May, more than 500 young Europeans of the 27 member countries of the European Union will encounter the Founding Fathers of Europe and the Promoters of Democracy by making a trip that will bring them, from four different directions, to the places where European history was made: Brussels, Houjarray, Paris, Strasbourg, and Rhöndorf (Home of Konrad Adenauer) while traveling through Scy-Chazelles (town of Moselle where the Home of Robert Schuman is located).

At each step along the way, these young Europeans will be invited to collect the scattered elements of the “Saga of the European Idea” (major dates, values, projects of the pioneers of Europe, human rights, democratic rights, etc.).

From these collected elements, the participants will prepare a live performance for Sunday 9 May.

And it is on 9 May, the 60^th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, that this saga will experience its strongest moment. Three exceptional events will take place at these places that left their mark on Europe: in the Salon de l’Horloge (Clock Room) at the Quai d’Orsay, in the Homes of the Founding Fathers, and at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
