A New Film Documentary: "Jean Monnet: Father of Europe"

After having produced an online documentary of Judge David Edward of the European Court of Justice, professor Don Smith

who teaches “law and community politics” as well as “law and environmental politics of the European Union” at the University of Denver, Colorado, Sturm School of Law, undertook putting together a 90-minute online documentary of Jean Monnet, his life, his work, and his legacy.

Don Smith’s interviews grab the observations and insights of those who worked with Jean Monnet during his key years with the CECA, as well as the important people who were touched by the contributions of the “inspiration” for the unification of Europe. Among these contributions, you will hear testimonies from Georges Berthoin, David Edward, Max Kohnstamm, Jacques-René Rabier, Jan van der Harst, Stanley Crossick, etc.

To produce this documentary, Don Smith followed Jean Monnet’s tracks, from Amsterdam to Groningen, Lausanne, Cognac, Houjarray, Paris, and Brussels.

This documentary, “Jean Monnet: Father of Europe”, completely in English, is available at this address: www.law.du.edu/index.php/jean-monnet-father-of-europe/documentary

The site also presents a description of the project and a very interesting and unedited photo gallery.
